Most language learners are eager to speak the language they are learning but find it a much harder task than reading or listening. Here are a few tips to help you master speaking a foreign language –
Speak – If you don’t practice speaking the language you are learning, you will never be able to express yourself or communicate with others using it. You may not be very good at it, but don’t let that deter you.
Record while you speak – You can play it back and listen to the flaws in pronunciation and try to improve them as you work ahead.
Read out loud – Reading aloud provides you with a wonderful opportunity to practice speaking the target language without actually having to stress yourself about having to find an appropriate response.
Interact with native speakers – Listen to how they speak and try to emulate this. Pay close attention to the sounds they stress upon and the tone they use to pick up first-hand knowledge of how the language should be spoken.
Speaking a new language can take time but stick with it and you will find yourself gaining fluency the more you try.
