SETUP
Outdoor setup and teardown had to happen at the same day in a controlled environment of the Campus. From past experience, bad weather had to be accommodate for.

When a research university in Singapore needed a reliable race timing solution for 700 participants across different categories, Globibo stepped in to make every second count. Globibo’s Video Slicing Synchronization Platform and a new timing-capturing platform were integrated into the infrastructure, ensuring every moment was tracked precisely and accurately.

The objective of the event was to raise charitable contributions from alumni of the university. The event also served of bring past students together in a fun and purposeful way.
When a research university in Singapore needed a flexible and efficient race timing solution for 700 participants in different categories, Globibo delivered a comprehensive setup that accurately captured every moment.

The team provided race bibs, non-reusable race chips, an arch gantry system, a race timing system, a timer, an inflatable arch, and several inflatable tube men. Challenges

Strong Rain:
The live-event day started with very heavy rain. The
setup of gates, arches, and all systems had to be done
during outpourings of rain.
An emergency plan with temporary tentage had to be
used to first secure the electronic equipment and the flight
cases with different teams, making sure that dry and wet
areas are kept separate. Also power-planning / lines had
to be managed carefully to protect all team members as
well as equipment.


Unclear waves/grouping:
Due to the rain, all runners had to be grouped and
start-times restructured and re-organized. Also the
segmentation of price categories had to be improvised
and updated in the system that calculated the race
result.


Testbed of new Technology:
The team used the opportunity to test alternative
system options in parallel to the live system. The
additional infrastructure had to be installed, configured
and monitored throughout – in the difficult
circumstances of heavy rain. While the results of the
alternative system was not perfect, it provided great
information for the future development of the hardware
and software solutions for upcoming events.

The client was impressed by Globibo’s ability to handle the situation professionally and promptly and expressed their appreciation for the quick resolution. They praised the team for their exceptional technical skills and their ability to work under pressure, which contributed to the overall success of the event.

Account Manager
Manage communication and requirements with Customer, before the onsite setup and during the race execution (and adjustments needed considering the rainy circumstances).

Technical Project Director
Supervise technical setup, engineering certificates as well as operational Race Director during the event.

Hardware & Software Team
Several parallel systems of hardware and software were used to do parallel race timing. That included several staff from the hardware development as well as software engineering teams.

Camera Support
Support camera hardware and software for Video slicing technology, including streaming of media assets into Events.Studio

Support / Logistics Team
Managed a team of staff responsible for packing and transporting heavy event equipment (including trusses, base-plates, security equipment, tents from the warehouses to the venue and back.
