Conference Equipment + Language Interpretation
The series of events included several meetings that used physical conference microphones and interpreting receivers, while other events were highly virtualized.
Events.Studio became the backbone of the interpretation hub and supported the delivery of many sessions. Five parallel servers handled audio and AI processing, and the platform was configured to meet the project’s specific requirements.
A customized AI model provided fast, context-aware translations and captions, giving participants another way to follow sessions alongside human interpretation.

1.5 mio Minutes of Streaming – Multilingual Interpretation at Scale: Connecting 5,000 Participants at Global Conference in Australia
A global association of financial professionals brought together 5,000 participants across multiple venues in Sydney, with 40 sessions requiring language support from 26 interpreters.
With limited space in some rooms and considerable distance between separate venues, the client needed more than a traditional interpretation setup. They needed a way to connect interpreters, sessions, and participants across buildings while giving attendees greater flexibility in how they accessed translated content.
The event combined traditional interpretation equipment with a centralized Interpreter Hub and Events.Studio to connect the different parts of the event.
- 26 interpreters supported multilingual sessions across the program.
- Several sessions deployed traditional setups using the newest Brähler interpretation consoles and processors, digital multifunction microphones, and Bosch Transmitters and Receivers.
- For around 35 sessions, the audio and video feeds were routed from multiple venues to a central control hub.
- Dark Fibre, IPTV, Q-Sys, and Dante were used to transport and back up audio/video signals.
- Within the hub, signals were time-synchronized and distributed to interpreter cabins for individual sessions.
- Interpreters also used Events.Studio soft consoles through a dedicated Cisco virtual network.
The client decided not to rely on traditional interpretation receivers for the largest events. Instead, participants could use their personal smartphones to access interpretation audio and AI-generated captions.
Around 400 Cisco Access Points were deployed across several venues to support this delivery model, while live event locations were managed independently from the existing venue network. The existing network was used only outside the meeting rooms / halls.

MANAGEMENT OF CHALLENGES
- The multi-building video/audio synchronization had not previously been attempted at the Sydney International Convention Centre. Bringing together multiple rooms, remote interpreters, centralized signal routing, dedicated networking, traditional interpretation systems, and AI processing required extensive testing, clock adjustments, and fine-tuning.
- Logistics were a challenge as an on-site centralized storeroom had to be used for several overnight setup/dismantle activities (night access control in an expansive venue).
- Through detailed technical coordination and continuous adjustments during setup, the team brought together a working interpretation environment that supported the client’s large-scale multilingual program.

Infrastructure Because the event sessions were decentralized, a combination of conference equipment and network infrastructure had to combined. Different venues had different inbuilt technologies that had to be directed to a hub and central server farm for processing.

Mobile Platform
The mobile platform used Events.Studio - a refined scalable architecture. While the core server and application framework were already in place, customizations were developed to address the needs of specific engineering groups. The enhancements allowed different stakeholders to monitor the platform, all linguists and key server vitals.
